HOME.BOY is a tvOS app that displays a dashboard for your own Home Assistant installation — room sensors and controls, a shared calendar and to-do lists, and local weather. This policy explains what data the app handles and, just as importantly, what it does not.
HOME.BOY does not collect, transmit, or sell any personal data to us or to any third party. The app communicates only with the Home Assistant server address you provide, over your own local network. We do not operate any server that HOME.BOY talks to, and we have no access to your data.
To connect to your smart home, HOME.BOY needs:
These are entered by you during setup and stored locally on your Apple TV so the app can reconnect automatically. They are never sent anywhere except to the Home Assistant server address you configured.
Once connected, HOME.BOY reads data already present in your Home Assistant instance — for example sensor readings, room and device states, calendar events, and to-do/reminder items — purely to display them on screen. This data is requested directly from your server each time the app is open and is not stored anywhere beyond what's needed to render the current screen. It is never sent to us or to any third party.
HOME.BOY contains no analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting frameworks, and makes no network requests to any server other than the one you configure. Nothing about your usage of the app is visible to us.
Your server address and access token are stored locally on your Apple TV device. Removing the app, or disconnecting in its settings, removes this information from the device. All communication between HOME.BOY and your Home Assistant server stays on your local network (or whatever network path you've configured Home Assistant to use); we are not part of that connection at any point.
HOME.BOY is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children, since it does not collect personal information at all.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this same address with a revised "Last updated" date.
